Do not wait. Plants shipped in Agar must be deflasked within 24–48 hours of arrival.
Sterile Extraction: Carefully remove plantlets from the agar using sterilized tweezers or hemostats.
The 100% Rule: You must wash away every trace of the agar gel. Residual sugar is a "magnet" for mold and rot once exposed to open air.
The Pro-Wash: Wash roots in lukewarm distilled water with a drop of Liquinox or Tween 20. This strips the "slick" residue off the roots completely.
CRITICAL: Do not use Betadine or Iodine. These will burn the delicate, un-hardened tissue and kill the plant.

Moving into Vermiculite or Perlite
The "Incubator" Phase: Immediately place your cleaned starts into a sterile, inert media like Vermiculite or Perlite.Humidity is Life: These plants are coming from a 100% humidity environment. Place them under a clear humidity dome or in a sealed propagation chamber immediately.Hardening Off: Over the next 10–14 days, gradually increase airflow by "burping" the dome. This hardens the plant's leaf cuticle so it can survive in normal house humidity.

Moving to a Permanent Home
When to Pot: Once the plantlets have successfully hardened off (usually after the 2-week transition) and show visible strength, they are ready for "real" soil.The "Chunky" Requirement: Epiphyllums are epiphytes. Use a high-drainage mix: 40% Orchid Bark, 30% Perlite, and 30% Quality Potting Soil. Avoid heavy, "muddy" garden soils.
Potting Up: Start in a small 2–3 inch container. Excess soil holds too much water, which leads to root rot.Light & Feed: Provide bright, indirect light. Once established in soil, begin a diluted, balanced fertilizer regimen to support growth.
